And Now for Something Completely Different… Zombie Brains with Boils
Here’s a cheap and cheery recipe from ingredients you can pick up easily in Kirkgate Market.
2 slices bacon (optional)
about 20 cherry tomatoes
1 pint milk
100g grated cheese
salt, pepper, mustard
Heat the oven to 200C/Gas 7
Remove the leaves from the cauliflower, scoop out the centre of the stem and boil or steam for about 10 minutes until it is just beginning to soften. If it accidentally disintegrates, all is not lost; just make ordinary cauliflower cheese.
Fry the chopped bacon in the butter, then add the flour, salt, pepper and mustard and stir in. Add the milk and stir until the sauce thickens. Add the cheese and stir until melted. Remove from heat.
Keeping the cauliflower in one piece, put it in a baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over it. Most of it will run off, but you can put it back when you eat it. Cut the tomatoes in half and stick them all over the cauliflower.
Bake in the hot oven for approx 30 minutes until it looks golden brown and yummy.
