New interactive Market website

June 30, 2010

There is a new interactive Market website where traders list their goods and you can order online!

Tony Crooks from leedsnet has developed the website after months of discussions with traders.

The site is interactive for both shoppers and traders. Every shop that becomes a member has their own area of the site which they can update whenever they like with new products, special offers, etc. Every product listed on the site, from a tube of toothpaste to catfish from Thailand to a 3000 piece jigsaw can be found in a few clicks. Orders can be placed and paid for over the phone or online, then collected in a few minutes. There is also space for Market traders to talk about the history and tradition of their stalls and there is a section on the History of the Market.

Besides being viewable it on a computer, it also works on mobile phones, iPhones and handheld computers.

So even if you cannot always get to the Market, there is now no excuse not to buy your produce.

The Market is local, affordable, and its profit gets reinvested in local public services so it’s definitely an asset in times of public finance austerity!

I have just come upon this website and it really appeals to me – like a breath of fresh, spring, air. Congratulations on the site, the work that has gone into it and the potential it affords for the traders and for all customers.

I particularly relish the knowledge that space is available on the site for traders to publish the history and tradition of their stalls. A wonderful initiative = conservation of some of the best that is LEEDS.
